So you have a clingy cat?

So you have a clingy cat that needs to be near you, but it's difficult to get work done when they are on your lap. I hear you, because, me too. Sometimes I have 2 clingy cats, and while they are adorable, it can incredibly distracting to have furry critters all up in my space.

My desk is situated in a sunny window because that's how I work best, but that also means that my cats LOVE sitting on my desk, on my chair, or on me, which can be disruptive to my work.

The simple solution would be to add a cat tree or cat bed to my office, but my space is so small, that every item in my office needs to both be functional and beautiful. A cat tree of any size would take up too much space, is ugly, and it could only go in a corner where the sun doesn't hit, meaning that the cats will end up back on my desk or chair. So, what can I do?

Cat owners, this may be one of my favorite decor hacks of all time and it’s so simple. Are you ready?

Buy a large plant stand and stick your cat’s favorite blanket or pillow in it.

Plant stands come in so many styles, shapes, and hights, that you are guaranteed to find something that both matches your cat’s lounging preferences, and your aesthetic tastes. And if your cat’s preferences change, you can just use it to hold a plant!

The one thing to keep in mind, is the shallower the depth of the bowl, the better. If the sides are too tall, it will block the sun rays.  Make sure the plant stand is bottom heavy so your cat can easily jump in and out without the risk of knocking it over, and  hurting themselves in the process.

Happy problem solving!
